  Here
at WSP we can imprint your existing corporate logo or you
can use our in-house design department to create something
new & exciting. Once
the artwork is in the computer & approved by the customer,
the separations are printed out. This is where each color
is printed out individually
on special vellum paper.
  These
separations are taken to the screen printing department where
they are placed on a screen that has been coated with a light
sensitive liquid that hardens when exposed to white light.
The areas that are covered by the positive art separation
do not harden and are left to wash away with water, leaving
a negative of the image on the screen. The screens are then
put onto one of the 2 types of screen printing presses, automatic
or manual. The automatic is used for larger quantity jobs
and the manual, where the operator does everything by hand,
is for smaller jobs.
  Then
the registration process begins. Each different ink color
is put into the back of its respective screen. To print that
color, a squeegee is swiped across the screen to fill the
template with ink & then swiped back again to lay the
ink into the garment. For registration you must lay down one
color & then meticulously line up each color so they all
register properly.
  Once
the setup & registration are finished, the garments are
put on the pallets to proceed around the press. Each color
is printed on the garment until the design is complete, the
shirt is then back where it started to be taken off the pallet
& run through a textile dryer that heats the garment to
340 degrees. This cures the ink onto the shirt allowing them
to be stacked or worn without the fear of the ink rubbing
off.
  If
the job has more than one location to be printed (i.e. left
crest & full back) we must continue the process until
the job is complete.
When
all locations & garments are finished, the items are carefully
boxed ready to be shipped or delivered the customer.
